Curso  de  Traducción:  Cine, Teatro y TV./  Translation Course: Cinema, Theatre and TV.

(Caption under picture) Working in the theatre means having a good memory and dramatising in a perfect way. But we can’t forget the connection is established between viewers and TV; we feel them as if they were our family. Cinema, on the other hand, take us to worlds we could only ever imagine.

They have an important role in socialisation because thanks to them social unity can be achieved in many aspects. They are a way to identify ourselves with reality as if we look through a mirror. Their development depends on collective evolution and production. Despite that, there are differences.

(Caption under picture) "Mi relación con la comida" ("My relation with food"), written by Angélica Liddell, with Esperanza Pedreño’s heartbreaking and spectacular performance, is  an openly criticism to nowadays’ society and particularly to human beings, who are more and more focused on themselves.

Mi relación con el mundo/ My relation with the world

We musn’t show off our successes if we want not to be perceived as jerks or antisocial people, but we must love ourselves enough as to have a sufficient self-esteem. How do we grasp it?

A través de varias diferenciaciones:/ Through several distinctions:

The difference between the (1) family or private scope and the (2) social or public.

(ii) La diferenciación entre la autoestima tradicional y la autoestima actual./ The difference between traditional self-esteem and nowadays’ self-esteem.

(iii) La humildad como valor intrínseco, la susceptibilidad y la aceptación de críticas./ Humility as an intrinsic value, susceptibility and acceptance of criticism.

Hello everyone! This week we have a text on Cinema, Theatre and TV. Do we live separated from society? No, we don’t. We live in society. And whether we like it or not, society has its own rules. For example, it’s advisable that when we meet we say hello. It’s a simple gesture to tell the other is important to us, at least socially speaking. Furthermore, there are rules which can be called moral. They help us to distinguish if we pay too much attention to ourselves instead of realising there are other people who need us too. The always great Angélica Liddell writes a play which is an openly criticism to nowadays’ society, so focused on ourselves as independent individuals, dominated by our self-definitions.

Please, do translate the text into English.

Next week, as usual, I'll write my own translation and you'll be able to check your mistakes, if any!!
